It was a donation that touched the hearts of many in the Metro Police family -- 5 year old Riley Mulcahy gave more than $100 of his birthday money to the Injured Police Officers Fund, following the murder of two police officers in Las Vegas earlier this year. When he presented his money to an officer, the officer asked him if he was sure he wanted to donate all of it (approximately $115) and Riley said yes “Because angel wings cost a lot.” Ever since that day, Riley has become a special friend of the department. Last Friday (December 12th, 2014) Riley was made an "Honorary Police Officer" at LVMPD's Northwest Area Command. You'll see him taking the officer's oath, attending an afternoon briefing, making simulated car stops and arrests, and going through some of the physical training that keeps our officers in good shape. Congratulations to Riley, and all the great folks who made this such a special day!!
